Dystopia is a community or a society that is in some important way undesirable or frightening. Dystopia is often characterized by dehumanization or other characteristics associated with a cataclysmic decline in society. It is an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one. Dystopias are often used to draw attention to real world issues regarding society, environment, politics, religion, and etc. In literature, fictional dystopias are often set in future projected virtual time or space involving technological innovations not accessible in actual present reality. In 1984, it takes place in a totalitarian invasive super state. In Brave New World human population is placed under a caste of psychological allocation. In Candide, Voltaire mocks the idea of an Utopian society.
